Concorde

Today I was in Paris for a press trip to see the engine manufacturer Safran. This was as dull as it sounds until I met by chance the 76 year old ex boss Gerard who was kind enough to give me a guided tour of their museum.
The company started in 1909 and has been involved in the evolution of aviation until today, Including the engines for the Concorde which he oversaw. He was a fascinating guide and explained basically how engines work. Who knew that German and British fighters in WW1 were both powered by French designed engines.
I learnt more in one than I have in years!
