Surprise Blackbird Nest!

Yesterday we had quite a surprise in our garden. After the plants on the arch had been trimmed I started to clear up the cuttings. I heard a little 'chuck chuck' noise coming from the inside of the plants on the arch. Upon investigation I discovered a blackbird's nest. The sound was a chick in the nest, I could not see it, and did not dare try to.

This morning there was mummy blackbird on the nest. I had a little peek, and then managed to quietly take two photographs. On one you can see her tail, on the other her beak. If you can't quite spot them this image may help.

So that explains why we've seen blackbird fledglings in the garden. We think this must be their second brood. Love it!
