Sunlight on the track
There was a biting little wind from the north today; we managed to avoid it by climbing through the forest near Puck's Glen and walking along the track that contours round the hillside and was completely sheltered by it. The afternoon had begun grey and damp, but by the time we had been out for a while the sun came out and transformed the forest. Said forest is a bit of a mess these days; there have been so many winter gales that any clearance of damage seems to be limited to making the paths passable while leaving the tangle of fallen trees and branches where they fell. But this bit was lovely, and very peaceful: we saw no-one until we had climbed back down to the old road.
Tonight the sky is clear and it feels like winter.
