Farewell to Jersey

The final day of my short holiday and the weather finally changed - dull cloudy and very windy with some slight showers. Spent the morning in the Maritime Museum mostly looking at the Occupation Tapestry - twelve 2m x 1m panels each worked by stitchers from a different parish. The detail and the stories they depicted were both interesting and thought provoking. Outside, on the quayside, this lighthouse stands as a memorial to those 29 men who died either as a result of being sent to concentration camps or by attempting to escape from the Island. It previously stood for over 100 years on St Catherine's breakwater which we visited on our tour of the island earlier this week. Back to the mainland this evening on the 7.15 flight, a night at Gatwick and home in the morning. A lovely 5 days !
