Banjo and Hank and Ozzie Go to the Beach
Our neighbors, Cindy and Bruce bought a car big enough to accommodate their Newfoundland (Banjo) and their Basset Hound (Hank). As it turns out, it also accommodated Ozzie, OilMan and me very nicely, so on this summer like day we all piled in and went to the beach.
We've been coming to this beach for years and I have never seen so many people there (first extra)soaking up the sun, pushing sea kayaks into the waves, surfing, fishing and, in the case of Ozzie and Banjo, chasing sticks and balls into the surf. Hank wasn't so keen on the ocean part, preferring to raid various picnics in progress along the beach instead.
Northern California beaches tend to be beautiful…rocky cliffs, headlands and dunes provide plenty of scenery and offer activities that don't require a bathing suit, fleeces and even parkas often being more appropriate attire Today, however, it was 80 degrees, and bathing suits and sun umbrellas were de rigeur. Used to heading into a brisk sea breeze wind everyone had smiles on their faces today as they enjoyed the Southern California style beach experience. The couple with the baby and the yellow tent in the extras came prepared for anything.
As we walked through the parking lot with tired dogs, the beautifully preserved "woody", complete with surfboards on top, had us humming strains of The Beach Boys' Surfin' Safari". A tastefully painted sign on the door says Conrad Blach, Family Dentistry. The license plate says SRFN DDS.
