Isabelline Shrike(Lanius isabellinus)
Not quite as striking as the Turkestan Shrike I posted a couple of weeks ago but still lovely and sporting that same 'bandit' look with the eye mask. This is another 'butcherbird' and is on the look out for small lizards and big insects to eat after tearing them apart with that strong, hooked beak. The great thing about these birds are that they look so serene and innocent hiding away on a branch and they stay there tracking their prey, so they are relatively easy to photograph-if you spot them first.
I'm off to the Royal Oman Opera House to secure some tickets to see Al Jareau in concert! I started liking his music after watching(and loving) the TV show 'Moonlighting' anyone remember that? Al Jareau sung the fantastic title track. Love Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis, now that dates me!
