Purple bike

Cloudy start and had a nice cycle along the fairly quiet coastal road with views of the coast, also fairly flat. Had lunch at Hirel. Stopped at a river mouth as I could see some birds. Got binoculars out and at first thought they were all gulls but scanning carefully further out saw Shelducks and what looked like a large white heron which I identified as a Great White Egret.

Rain came on heavily again and had had enough of cycling in the rain, trying to get things dry and constantly having wet feet. So we stopped at a tourist office in Cancalle and they booked up 2 nights in a Chambre D'Hote in St Malo. We had intended 1 night but 2 was bliss.

When we got to St. Malo it was still raining but we got a warm welcome from the owners - an Italian family. They opened the garage for our bikes and wet things and took us upstairs to a lovely en suite room with beautiful bathroom fittings - luxury. They told us to settle in and come down for a coffee.

Later we went into the part locals call St Malo which is the part inside the walls of the city. We walked the short walk along the side of the beach where we saw a young couple happily walking along in bare feet with an umbrella. It made a good photo but I would need some time to crop and do some adjusting and I don't have time with going away soon.

65km Total 769 km with final kms to get home total 785km a bit shorter than we usually do but we had awful weather and extra days travelling by ferry and train.
