Slug-proof
CarbBoy was off to basketball training today, so that had me at the market nice and early for a chat with the organic plant supplier (lots of teeth sucking about the chances for tomatoes planted outside now) and to see CheeseLady with a gift (reciprocated with cheese!)
Lunch was unusually healthy - fish with salad. The advantage of Carb/AllergyBoy being away for a meal is that we can risk fish. The disadvantage of salad for lunch is that an afternoon gardening can leave you feeling a little shaky without the usual carb-loading.
Later, I challenged CarbBoy's sort-of coach about the teams for the first tournament of the season. With no good reason given as to why he has been put down to the seconds, I am left very grumpy. If he had said it was to do with his playing, then we can make a choice about fixing that, but instead I am left with a very disappointed boy who will be playing with kids he has never even trained with before. He will, of course, still go - even though it means getting up before 7am on a holiday, and missing the local party/vide grenier. But that's just the kind of team player he is. Shame his coaching team don't see that.
Meanwhile, this hosta has re-emerged from winter hibernation and, thanks to a band of copper, is fending off the local gastropods. The vent d'Autan is here (local big wind) and blew a section of zinc off a neighbouring roof. Happily Mr B wasn't in his habitual seat and was therefore not sliced in two.
