The Leeds- Liverpool Canal

This was the view early today as I walked along the Leeds- Liverpool Canal to meet Ms Gable for coffee at Salt's Mill. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the joggers, cyclists, dog walkers and fishermen were out in force along the path in this little bit of quiet greenness in the midst of traffic mayhem on the roads.

The old mills, some of which still line the sides of the canal, have mostly been converted into offices and dwelling houses. At the SaltaIre end of the path there is an huge expanse of park and the model village of Saltaire, built by Sir Titus Salt in 1851. for his mill workers. The houses arranged in cobbled street bearing the names of his wife and offspring still look as though they were stuck in the Victorian era if only the cars weren't so obvious.

Ms Gable and I had a fine chinwag over coffee, no scones gracing our plates it should be noted.
Greetings were passed on from Poppy in Orkney, Wildwood in California and Hellonwheels in Yorkshire- so has the world shrunk with blip.

Now His Lordship and I are about to meet the grandsons, both of whom were elsewhere when we met up with daughter#5 and feasted in fine style on fabulous Asian food in Shipley last night.
