Blackdown Rings, Devon
It was really hard to choose one image from the photos I took on our sortie to Blackdown Rings today. At last it became a toss-up between this sheepy focus or the sky focus, which is now my Extra.
It's a lovely clear day, slightly warmer than yesterday as the wind's dropped, and from the top of the hill you can see for miles in all directions. We were a few weeks too early to see the bluebells at their best, but the leaves are beginning to open on the oaks, chestnuts and hawthorns, all bright and new. And young lambs were still feeding from the ewes. All very lovely. And there were a few bluebells in bud, so it'll be a beautiful sea of blue again in the remains of the Norman bailey.
Apart from the bluebell shot (linked above) that I blipped 5 years ago, here are two more blips of Blackdown Rings:
Early May last year
and
February 4 years ago which shows how the prevailing winds bend the trees.
