Last gasp

I picked these Fritillaria from the garden and I thought I would give them a last chance to show off their strangeness, the pale one looks almost like a skull.  I first saw the Charles Rennie Mackintosh watercolour of these flowers years ago, and I thought he must have exaggerated the check pattern, surely you could not have a real flower like this.  They are so delicate as well and I hope I can keep them going.
