Meigle otter

Our Tuesday outing was to the Meigle Sculptured Stones Museum. It's a fascinating collection of Pictish stones; mostly from the 8th century. This lifelike otter is part of a frieze from a stone church.

Many of the animals are not as realistic. I liked the griffin shown in my extra photos. Above it is looks like a snake holding its own tail.
