On Your Bike...

In Scotland, 5th May is election day, and the local candidates are busy canvassing for votes and attending hustings.

Today they were out in Dock Park at the invitation of Cycling Dumfries, to answer questions about their party's policies in regard to cycling. They were expected to do this while cycling, so that they could see some of the good and bad bits about travelling locally on two wheels. 

It was obvious that some of the candidates were more comfortable on a bike than others. Elaine Murray, shown here, has been MSP for Dumfriesshire since 1999. (You can guess her party by the colour of her coat). Elaine brought her own bike but there was a problem with the front brake, which this knight of the cycle path fixed for her so that she could continue on the ride.

The press turned up for a photo opportunity and I stayed around to get some more informal shots.
