Casting a Shadow

Despite a 24 hour train strike a few of us were booked on a training course at our London Bridge office today. We suggested it might be better if it was postponed, however it's for our new software that goes 'live' on 9th May and today was the last day with no possibility of rearranging it. So they said it was up to each individual person to decide this morning whether they would attempt to travel.

I should have been on the afternoon session, but asked if they'd transfer me to the morning as I didn't fancy getting stuck in London tonight. Anyway I arranged to meet my colleague Megan at the station at 7.45am and we managed to get a train at 8am, changed at East Croydon and finally arrived at our office at 9.45. Slightly late but at least we made it. It turned out that everyone else from our Brighton office decided not to bother.

The course finished at 1.30pm so we nipped to Borough Market and had some Thai street food for lunch. Megan has never been up The Shard so on the way back to the station we called in for a cheeky glass of wine - well there was no chance we'd make it back to the office and we are still entitled to a lunch hour :-)

The view was spectacular as it's a really clear day and I noticed the shadow of The Shard which I thought made an interesting blip.

Anyway we managed to get a train back and arrived in Brighton at 4.25pm and I caught a bus home a few minutes later. So considering there's been a strike our journey has been relatively smooth, and we've had rather a nice day out of the office!
