Treecreeper

Today's the day .............................. to hang on

With its distinctive restless movement, this little treecreeper was actually climbing up a stone wall when I caught sight of it.

It has long sharp claws that act like crampons and a stiff tail that it presses against the bark of trees as it climbs up spirally in short spurts.  The limestone didn't seem to present it with any problems either.  I think it was the moss and lichens that it was interested in - perhaps for lining a nest - or maybe for the grubs that might have been in there.

A real treat to see this busy little bird .......................
