Foden ‘C’ type Steam Wagon

This Bank Holiday weekend is the annual Cavalcade of Steam held in on the edge of Rushden, Northants. Today many of the vehicles start to make their way there and consequently the A6 almost grinds to a halt. Many of the steam engines are slow moving and overtaking is only possible in a very few places so tailbacks of 1 to 2 miles is not unusual.
I captured today’s blip in a lay-by where the driver had stopped to eat his lunch. The vehicle is a 1925 Foden ‘C’ type Steam Wagon and is towing a similarly dated caravan. This vehicle has a speed of about 15 miles per hour so won’t be as frustrating to follow as the steam rollers.
We are off to Warrington tomorrow for the 50th birthday lunch of wife’s nephew. That will be interesting some of the folk attending are really nice and others more challenging – I will be on my best behaviour as usual!
Extra is another view of the same vehicle
