Happiness is...
Trematon! First visit of the year to my favourite garden with Friend. Oh the place is as lovely as I remembered from all my visits last year and my first visit last April! The place is just romantic, dreamy, beautiful...perfect! What could possibly be better? They have chickens in the Norman Keep!!!!! I remembered the lady in the cafe saying the wife wanted to keep chickens there but the husband had other plans for it - well she won! Not only are there chickens, there is the most handsome rooster and their coop - it's only a bloomin' castle!!!! I spent ages just admiring the rooster through the chicken wire and squealing in delight - much to friends amusement but not her surprise - she knows I love my chickens!
Anyhow - back to the gardens! Tulips were the stars of the place - from the table and this blip in the cafe, to the glorious pots outside the cafe, house and in the beds! The mound of the keep was covered in bluebells, primroses and wild orchids, and everywhere the next stars were beginning to push their way out of the ground - Peonies, Iris and Lilies.
Isabel Bannerman is not only a garden designer with her husband, she is a photographer, have a look here at her work and her prices!!! I finally succumbed and bought a pack of her photographs as they really are beautiful, and cheaper than the prints!
Just the most perfect day out - the company, the weather, the gardens, the chickens! I aim to go back every month until it closes in September again!
