Blast From The Past
Today was 2nd day of the Anniversary Show in Roskilde, where we were celebrating that Dog Dancing has been an official sport in Denmark for 10 years now.
Today we had the official Heelwork To Music classes and I was not competing (my boys do Freestyle), but I was judging.
And then at noon, we had a big dog dancing show in the Main Ring at the International Dog Show. The show was called Blast From The Past and it showed dog dancing as it has evolved since 2006.
We had some of the handlers, who were competing at the very first competition, reconstructing their old routines.
Biscuit performed his 10 years old routine to Dean Martin's Sway and little Baby Gollum performed Whisper's very first Heelwork To Music routine to Bach's Ave Maria.
They were both so good and it was very special to be in the ring with them - remembering the old days and my old boys Whisper and Robbie, who were my dancing partners at that time.
I was especially proud of Gollum as it is a very difficult routine for him (slow and very advanced with lots of turns on the spot and lateral work), but he was 100% focused and put so much effort into getting it right.
Hero was invited to perform his Freestyle routine to The Girl With the Drago Tattoo, to show what the sport is like today and how much more advanced the routines are now. He was a clever boy too :-)
All the dogs, who performed a routine, got a small trophy as a thank you, so the top left picture is of my 3 boys with each their little trophy. They are rather difficult to see in the grass though (the trophies - not the dogs). Top right is Hero, bottom left is Biscuit and bottom left is Gollum.
You can see a video of Gollum's performance here.
And a video of Biscuit's performance here.
Hopefully I will get a video of Hero later.
See you tomorrow
