'May Day in London'
After a lovely breakfast at the hotel...we packed up, stored our cases and set out for a full on day of sightseeing. First stop (when we eventually got there...) was to see the Little Venice Boat Festival...great atmosphere, and the weather gorgeous!
Next off we went back into London to Trafalgar Square..visited the National Gallery as I wanted to see the exhibition of Dutch Flower paintings. Had coffee then walked down The Mall and into St.James's Park. The blossoms had gone over, though I did find some beauties, the flower beds were glorious. Arrived at Buckingham Palace. It was packed! The Tulips and Wallflower colour scheme this year is a bit garish, but everyone was enjoying them. We then proceeded back through the Park to Horseguards Parade and were lucky enough to watch the hourly changing of the Horse Guards. Next (after a very expensive Lager in a nearby Hotel) we walked to the Embankment, then hopped on the Tube to Tower Hill, from where we walked to St.Katharine's Docks. Here we saw the beautiful barge used by the Queen during her Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The weather all day, just beautiful!
Collected our luggage then caught the train home...we were both exhausted. (My poor little hips have put up with a pounding).....but I coped well.
