Geronimo.......................

Concerned by the posters around the nearby town of Alcester, we decided to go and have a look this afternoon to see if there were grounds for reporting the church officials to the RCPCT.
It reminded me of the Kattenstoet festival which takes place in Ypres, Belgium every few years. The parade commemorates  a tradition from the Middle Ages, when cats were thrown from the belfy tower of the Cloth Hall in Ypres onto the town square below. Nowadays, it is toy cats which take part thank goodness.
The posters in Alcester read "See your teddy fly. Bring your mum and dad and see your teddy fly from the top of the church tower. Prizes for the best landing and the most spectacular flight".
Sadly, the rain started at one (the event was from 1pm to 4pm) and finished about 4:30. However, not to be beaten, the teddies did fly, but occasionally had to stop until another downpour passed. Each teddy's name and friend's name were ceremoniously read out by the presiding official, and then without further ado the teds were hurled (individually) from the top of the church.
Thankfully, they were all wearing parachutes. At one stage was an announcement  "Will the friends of the teddies who have already jumped please return their parachutes as we are running out?"
My extra is a ted who sadly crash landed on the castellated roof next door to the church. Ouch!! He was soon retrieved, much to his little friend's relief.
My knee is feeling much improved today (thank you for your kind thoughts). I shall, however be keeping a crepe bandage in my bag this week, just in case.
