Grand day out
We've had a trip out today.
We visited Lannercost Priory. It's on our doorstep and I've never been.
We were given some history of the priory, who owned it, who stole it and who bought it back. Henry the 8th had something to do with it at one point, some stones from the roman wall were used to build it. There is a terracota tomb for a little baby girl and the carving or whatever its called is beautiful, it looks like a baby doll, the expression on the babies face is lovely and her head on a cushion all carved in terracotta.
We also had a look in the church. Another lovely church. We like a look in a church. We said prayers and lit a candle for those in our thoughts. We left a little message and prayers will be said on a wednesday at 10am. A nice idea.
After the church we drove along the road to see the wall and the roman fort at birdoswald. We didn't stop it was too cold.
On return we had a little look on google earth, had a bacon butty and all was sweet. Another grand day out.
