What a fab system the NYC Subway is. A day roaming downtown, including a jaunt on the Staten Island Ferry, before heading over to Williamsburg and Brooklyn.

Alas the vegan donut shop which was rumoured to do GF versions wasn't the treat I hoped it would be - it was fab, just no GF donuts. The girl behind the counter wasn't convinced anyone makes them.

We did - bizarrely - have fried brussel sprouts for breakfast in Greenwich Village, served to us by a waitress from Kippen. It seems they are the "thing du jour" here. Sprouts, not waitresses hailing from Kippen. That really would be niche, as opposed to just plain odd.
