Learning day by day

An early morning political education

A very interesting conversation about why you should always use your vote, particularly if you are female, but including the argument that you can't complain if you don't take part and that there are many places in the world still where people have no say in how their country is run. Somewhere, somehow Carys managed to get Mary Poppins into the conversation. I had a sudden lightbulb moment when I remembered that Mrs Banks is a suffragette.

C had a successful day at school. She was one of the winner of the Orbit (school paper) competition to design a superhero. Hers was a values based superhero, very topical as our school is now a values based school. She was also picked by her teacher as having designed the most effective poster in the class for a competition about not dropping litter.

W received his swimming certificate in assembly too, so he didn't feel left out and was quite proud of his sister's achievement with her superhero.

I had a fun evening with Will's Beavers group (homeless due to the elections), demonstrating how to pump up a tyre while they worked on their cycling badge. I also had a call from the local bike shop and we can pick up W's new bike tomorrow after school.
