Gean
Another glorious spring day, but one where I've been rather constrained - dropping Ben at college, stocking the store-cupboards and then attending the funeral of a friend who was very involved with wildlife conservation in Peterborough, being an active member of both the Wildlife Trust and the Peterborough Conservation Volunteers.
The funeral was held at St.Botolph's Church in Longthorpe, and was a beautiful service, which dwelt on the many things she had achieved in her life. I shall remember her as an amazingly positive and independent person, always interested and always questioning - an example to us all. The packed church was testament to the fondness we all felt for her.
She was a very keen botanist and lichenologist, and I think she would have appreciated the beauty of our Gean or Wild Cherry, which has come into bloom rather late this year. The image was taken rather late in the day, shooting up against the pale cloudy sky.Fortunately it fits in quite well with the Flower Friday theme of a 'twist of white' !
