Tea party

Our next door neighbour was reluctant to celebrate her decade busting birthday but her daughter's had other ideas. Friends from far and wide gathered for a surprise tea party and her face was a picture as we greeted her on her arrival at a local hall. The daughters had arranged for a traditional tea served on lovely old fashioned china and hand embroidered table linen. We enjoyed sandwiches, scones, jam and cream, luscious cakes then birthday cake.
Maybe it wasn't so bad celebrating her birthday with daughters, granddaughters, family and friends after all?
