Liberation Day
Today is the 71st anniversary of the Channel Islands being freed from five years of German Occupation. Despite the threat of rain, undeterred, we walked down into town. And wow, did we get wet! Thousands of people braved the weather to celebrate our freedom for another year. An enormous cruise ship, the Caribbean Princess, was anchored off St Peter Port too. Lots to see and do and only a few events were rained off. So I was hoping to bring you a topical photograph, but instead, thanks to the rain, today's offering was taken in lower Candie Gardens. All the greens looked really vibrant in the rain. By the time we'd walked home, the sun was making an appearance!
