Annie and Chris

Wow Factor

We went a little way up one of the valleys near Interlaken today. Where yesterday was rainy and cloudy, today the sun was out, lifting the vibrant greens. The high peaks were still covered mostly in cloud, but I (Annie) like that because this is the first time in the area for everyone else: so they get a slow reveal.

We nosed about in Lauterbrunnen and grabbed some lunch, then headed on to the amazing in-cave waterfall at Trümmelbachfälle. The roar of the water and the sheer power of it caused a genuine "Oh wow" from everyone - no need for MP3s or DSs when you can be in awe of water slicing through rock. Hopefully that's a memory that will remain with them.

We mosied on up the valley to see what else we could see. The valley is nicknamed the valley of 72 waterfalls, and with water plunging from high sheer cliffs it was exceptionally beautiful.

We decided to take a little cable car to Gimmelwald - the blip (taken by Chris) is the view at the top. It was the first time on a cable car for all the kids and they loved it. After playing on swings and the slide at the top (where Annie suffered a foot injury coming down too fast on the slide) we went to eat in the local backpackers restaurant. The hearty meal was finished off by a communal chocolate fondue at the table. Yum.

Over dinner we discussed what are the first things we'd do if we were made Prime Minister tomorrow. All I can say is you'd better be well behaved if you're living in Rosie's state: the punishment regime would be severe.

We're on international 3G at the moment, so will comment on our return...
