Day 131 of 366 - The Charterhouse Priory!

Today's photo was taken early this evening in Coventry. The view is of the Charterhouse Priory of St Anne and the Prior's Lodging. The building forms part of a group of Listed structures that include, The Charterhouse, the Coach House as well as the precinct walls. Also included in the listing are a collection of 15th- and 16th-century wall paintings. The original Charterhouse dates back to 1385 and was built after King Richard II laid the foundation stone. There is not a lot of the original building that still stands, as most of the current building dates from the 18th century. The original use for the Charterhouse was as a Carthusian monastery. After the dissolution of monasteries, under King Henry VIII. Most of the priory was demolished, but eventually the surviving part from the 15th century became the home of local industrialist Colonel Wyley. The complex was the property of City College over the last few years but was recently taken over by The Charterhouse Preservation Trust on behalf of the City of Coventry, with the mission of restoring the complex and opening it up for the public. The Charterhouse is classed as a Grade I listed building and the site itself is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

The photo was taken using the App 645 Pro on my iPhone 6.

First I used the Retouch feature of the app Handy Photo to delete the Car, the signs and a pallet from outside the front of the building. I then cropped the image. Next I used Snapseed to sharpen the image a little and add the Tonal contrast preset. After this I used Painteresque to add the Painteresque 2 preset. I also used DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the vanilla texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Tuneup preset, the Vibrant FX, a Medium dark vignette. I then added the Canvas texture and the Burlap frame.
