In the Garden
I am sitting out on the bench in my garden having a last glass of wine from the bottle we opened last night looking out on Lake Superior as the sun set. The perfect last evening to a weekend away from the stress and pressures of our commitments here in the city.
There is no where else I have found to give me the peace I find on the shores of Lake Superior.
As I sat here tonight and take a picture of my peace rock, I send my most heart felt thoughts and prayers out to planet rocked with violence every day. To the soldiers who come home with trauma , families who's home are filled with neglect, abuse and violence. Poverty and the horrors of drugs and war in countries I will never visit. A world I can't imagine, only read about and grieve for the victims, as I sit in peace here in the garden. Struggling to find the words to write that don't sound trite and over used. But I feel compelled to acknowledge the juxtaposition of my world of abundance and joy balanced against the violence and horrors of the shootings in Colorado and around the world.
If only it was easy as a peace rock and pretty flowers...
