Capturing the Everyday

Memorial to the Rainbow Warrior

The French Government planted two bombs on the Greenpeace ship which was in Auckland Bay, and set them off just before midnight destroying the ship and killing one crew member. Of course as governments do they denied any involvement until forced to do so.
The Maori tribe north of Kerikeri offered for the ship to become a memorial on their land in Mangonui Bay, and on the hill this stone sculpture acts as a black rainbow memorial.
