9 May - День Победы

Victory Day being celebrated in Russia and elsewhere in the former Soviet Union today with what has become the usual parade of military across Red Square.  I had many images of the parade to choose from but instead opted for one from another tradition forming up on 9 May each year:  the march of the "Immortal Regiment" an initiative started a few years ago by private citizens and which invites ordinary people to walk in a parade commemorating their relatives who served during WWII.

5 extras added today showing some views of the parade heading home through the streets of Moscow.  A thoughtful opinion here too.
