A solitary state

This heron is a familiar figure under the bridge of the Allanwater river and today it was oblivious to the mayhem caused by the arival of two local police in the streets of Bridge of Allan.

I narrowly escaped a parking fine- by a whisker- and one policeman had his notebook out ready to write out the ticket.
Fortuantely I had only popped into the Post Office to buy a newspaper ( yes I am one of the diminishing number of people who still buy newspapers).

Well, the police had a field day. They kept sticking tickets on cars as if they were confetti. Now city dwellers may not find this unusual but believe me the sight of a policeman in Bridge of Allan is a major talking point . I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen one in over 30 years living here- so to see two in one afternoon and at 5 o'clock  on a Saturday is to say the least- very unusual.

On  sunny days like today people have taken to flocking to the river for picnics and shopping in the town with the result that the streets are packed- and everyone  simply ignored double yellow lines. Until today.
