The rescued garden- Dun Dubh

As we set off through the Trossachs to the Open Gardens in Aberfoyle something told me this was going to be rather special.

To start with the scale of it  - over six acres of garden- perched on a clifftop running down to Loch Ard with superb views of Ben Lomond.

There was something strangely eerie about it because there was  no sign of the owner.  He lives in Hong Kong and returns for a couple of months of the year with his family.

But the head gardener was available to answer questions.
( I was relieved to learn that the owner is a Scot and not some wealthy Arab, Russian or European using Scotland as a holiday bolt-hole but someone who clearly has a love of his homeland.)

However it is the spectacular views from Dun Dubh that make this a “must see” garden which  opens for charity  under Scotland’s Gardens.
