The Sea, On and Under It.
+
Some years ago I was privileged to meet Jim. He was a tuba player in a band I joined in North Wales.
Jim was clever and funny, kind and thoughtful, hard-working and passionate. He had some great stories and was a part of stories told by many others.
I always associate Jim with the sea. He had a small boat and earned a living catching shrimp on the sandbanks in the Dee estuary. He used to moan about his nets sometimes coming up filled with "bloody plaice, no damn good to anybody!" but gut some and bring them along for me to take home.
The world was richer for him being in it, and is poorer for him leaving it last week.
His funeral was today.
Bye, Jim.
