Art Deco
11.9C sunny and bright with cloud increasing through the afternoon. Light NNW breeze increasing to moderate through the afternoon.
Grocery shopping over by mid morning.
We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve the Deerhound from one end of the beach to the other (where a river runs into the sea) and back. We could see the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland much more clearly today. The sea was very calm and very blue. Maeve was off her lead on the beach and mostly followed us closely as we walked along, but made occasional detours on her own when things took her interest. She seems to enjoy running along to catch up with us.
When we came back along to St Columba's chapel in the cemetery at Keil we could see lots of seals hauled out onto the rocks between Keil and Dunaverty. For Derelict Sunday I chose the ruined art deco Keil hotel which was completed in 1939, just in time to be requisitioned to serve as a military hospital. It opened as a hotel after the war, but closed in 1992, and since then has stood empty.
F1 on telly this afternoon. Drama at the start with both Mercedes cars crashing ... into each other. Thereafter a great race with victory going to the youngest ever driver to win an F1 Grand Prix.

Note: Extras at the beach at Carskey bay. Firstly the cottages at the far end, then on the return walk Carskey Bay towards Keil with Ailsa Craig in the distance then Sheep Island and Sanda island to the right of shot.
