P274 HMS Tracker
14.0C with heavy rain in the morning. Drying up early afternoon and becoming a bit brighter later. Wind ESE/SE/SSE to 37 mph with gusts to 51 mph moderating to not much more than a light breeze by late afternoon.
I went for a walk about 3pm. I went round past Aquilibrium and had a wander round the old quay. New yachts are in the loch and at the marina and there was a patrol boat of some sort in too. I went on round the harbour and along the little park (where all the picnic benches have been replaced with very nice new ones) by the ferry terminal and out Kilkerran road to the mile marker then I came back along the street side of the park and came home through town passing the town hall and the bookshop (open). I saw a seal in the loch, and two kayakers too.
... and I didn't get wet.
Music on the Clip for walking:
Deacon Blue, The Believers, and some of The Singles.
Afternoon music ... Van Morrison, Avalon Sunset.
DMC-LX7 f/2.8 1/1300 sec. ISO-80 11mm (35mm focal length 55mm)
Extra: Kayaks in Campbeltown Loch.
Note: HMS Tracker is an Archer-class (P2000) patrol and training vessel of the British Royal Navy. Along with her batch 2 sister-ship, HMS Raider, Tracker is part of the Faslane Patrol Boat Squadron based at HMNB Clyde.
Tracker is one of sixteen 20-metre, 54-tonne P2000 patrol craft operated by the Royal Navy. She is constructed from glass-reinforced plastic. As a "batch 2" vessel, Tracker has a sustainable top speed of 24 knots, faster than her batch 1 sister ships due to her more powerful turbocharged MTU diesels; she can exceed 24 knots in suitable sea conditions. Both Raider and Tracker operate in the force protection role, providing maritime security for high value shipping in the Firth of Clyde, and are armed with three general purpose machine guns.
