The viewpoint at the wayside...
... at the top of Royd Moor...for MonoMonday today...
I have blipped FROM the viewpoint on several occasions, but never OF the viewpoint. The circular structure stands at a height of 320m or 1080 feet above sea level, and the interpretation board suggests that the panoramic view from the viewpoint is approximately 1000 square miles. It was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II. Local people and businesses combined to design, fund and build the viewpoint, and Outo Kumpu gifted the stainless steel disc which was designed, shaped and polished by John Wade
( cartography by J G Smith and J Wade of the Penistone and District Society ). A great place for a 360 degree view!
The extra is a couple of older lambs peering through the adjacent fence - they seemed quite interested in my antics with my camera...
Thanks to Nickimags for hosting once again!
