Day Ten: Shoes
The penultimate day of our Budapest trip saw us transferring to a new apartment for the last night since our original apartment in the Jewish Quarter was double-booked. The new apartment was just behind the parliament (shot before...twice) and close to the 'Shoes on the Danube' memorial which is a moving tribute to the Jews who were shot and dumped into the Danube by Arrow Cross militiamen in 1944-45. I had planned to visit this spot ever since I saw a blip by a Welshman in Budapest and found out more about the Arrow Cross during our visit earlier in the week to the House of Terror.
Today's food experience was Mexican rather than Hungarian with a dinner at the excellent Iguana just around the corner from the apartment...heading off home tomorrow back to the land of rain...
