A Dainty Duckling
We changed up our church drywall project today. 4 of us retirees started at 9 this morning. I didn't start for home until 7:55 this evening. Long day. Long day with nary one photo taken. (What was I supposed to take...the whiteness of the drywall...the goldness of the drywall screw...or my sweat-stained T-shirt?) Between the 97 degrees, and the hard work...there was a real pleasant aroma wafting in the rafters.
On my way home...I dialed 911.
"911 operator...what is your emergency?"
"I have no blip...what am I to do?"
"Listen...you fruitcake...do you realize we can trace this call, and charge you for an ambulance run?"
"Thanks for your help...you heartless...(I hate it when bad thoughts enter my head.)
I was saved at the Linden millpond. Hidden among a dozen ducks...was this solitary little beauty. An answer to blip prayer.
I called my 911 operator, and told her everything was OK, and that she could deal with the next emergency.
I'm calling this baby Daphne.
I'm watching Forrest Gump for the 48th time. And...that's all I have to say about that....
