Door County, Wisconsin

Ahhhh, Door County. It was about an hour from our hotel in Green Bay, Wisconsin. My son Jeff was out the door at 5:55 a.m., so I waited a while...then hit the road.

When I lit out, it was 70 F, and sunny. Just right...just peachy.

A half hour later, it was threatening to rain, completely cloudy, and 15 degrees colder. What happened?

Uh-oh. I forgot that I would be crossing over the 45th parallel...making me closer to the North Pole, and further away from the equator. I'm just glad I didn't have to go any farther north. I would have had to start looking for Santa and his reindeer.

Door County is known for wineries, art galleries, cheese shops, and lighthouses. I hit 3 out of the 4, skipping the wine.

The cheese was good, the art galleries interesting and pricey, and I went to 5 different houses of light. The one pictured is Sturgeon Bay Light.

On my FLICKR PAGE, I put the other 4 lighthouses, and a few other pictures of the County Door.

A beautiful place.

Jeff did good at his first day. He will be here for 18 days...each day starting at 6 a.m. He is not a morning person, so we're trying to retire early. Will catch up soon...I promise.

P.S. As an added bonus...the Door County cherries were everywhere. At a farmers market...I had a cherry bratwurst, and bought 2 pints of cherries. Both were delicious.
