Time flies

Firstly, thank you so much for the utterly overwhelming response to yesterday's blip. I haven't even attempted to get round to say thank you to all of you who commented, yet...I will endeavour to do so before we head off on holidays.

We decided to take advantage of the weather today and thought we would head out to Formby Point. At some point there had been a discussion about Southport as well. As a result, we ended up in Southport because I was driving and took a wrong turn. We had a mooch around a little nature reserve and saw plenty of cinnabar moth caterpillars, some butterflies and plenty of wild flowers.

Then I let Corin drive and we went to Formby Point.

Sadly, the red squirrels were in hiding. I am not surprised. A number of under-dressed, loud mouths had wandered off the beach into the forest area and were clearly too much for the squirrels, who went into hiding.

We had ice cream, we had a nice walk. James and Corin bumbled along together talking about all sorts of randomness, as is their usual state of being. We discovered that James is at that age where he is uncomfortable at the mention of anything to do with sex, so when I was explaining that they had had to ensure that the squirrels didn't die out and therefore had to breed, James asked me how they made sure. I flippantly said "They gave them Viagra" to which I got utter disgust in both expression and reaction from my boy. This was compounded somewhat when we found some bugs 'at it' on a leaf...of course I took photos, and Corin made some comment that I cannot repeat here and James was full of embarassed indignation. Made me chuckle, although I should know better because I know how I still put my fingers in my ears and cry "la la la la la" when any of the more senior grown ups in my life mention naughtiness!

So here is my boy - growing up quickly, waiting for his body to catch up with his enormous feet. I love him dearly even though I have turned into evil mummy who likes to embarass him!

xx
