Worsley

A little research today, for a forthcoming walk, around Worsley. This took me to an area I had never visited before, unless you count hundreds of times whizzing past on the elevated M60 near junction 13. Sights included The Aviary beside Old Warke Dam. The building was a huntin' and fishin' lodge, built in 1850 beside the Earl of Ellesmere's private fishin' and boatin' lake.

I crossed the Alphabet Bridge, so-called by scholars from St Mark's School who practised their alphabet on the 26 planks of the bridge's span. The bowling club was busy.
