Empty nest

A big shocker today to find the Cardinal nest empty already! This is the last picture I took of the chicks (yesterday). I hope they fledged already and alright and that nothing got to them first (I hear a larger animal foraging around the porch at night, but don’t know what it is. A raccoon perhaps?). I’ll miss them! 
 

P.S. I also had, what some people may think of as the saddest BBQ ever, tonight: alone, vegetarian and with pouring rain (See extra). But actually, I was quite happy about it J
