Click beetle

I went for a second trip to Box hill after work today to search again for the Man orchids, I was luckier this time but still only found 4 plants! I hope this is because it is still a little early in the season and not because they have disappeared.
While rummaging around near the path I found this beautiful click beetle Agrypnus murinus, one of our largest species of click beetle, so called because they have the ability to right themselves by flicking with a loud click, which can be quite alarming if you are holding them at the time.
