Still nine!
First visit to Blackford Pond in two weeks, and I was delighted to find that there were still nine cygnets, now bigger and feeding earnestly. One of them must have been watching the tufted ducks because it dived right under water.
T and I spent a bit of time checking out what the other bird life was doing and were pleased to find a coot nesting and also a moorhen, although despite signs of nesting, the Blackford Pond moorhens have produced no young for as long as we have been going to Blackford Pond so it's early days yet. We also saw the little grebe again, no signs of a mate but they do nest later. It was a beautiful afternoon and it was all the more welcome given last week's weather.
