La Tour Eiffel

After a lovely hot sunny day (for a change) we drove to the west of Paris to stay with friends overnight. They live in the Reuill-Maison district close to Le Mont Valerien. From there you have a magnificent view over Paris and get this sight of the Eiffel Tower with trees (the Bois de Boulogne) in the foreground. We had the delight of the Boulevard Peripherique in rush hour which, despite the petrol shortage was very busy.

A delightful evening where our host broke into his well stocked cellar. We left a 1906 Sauternes but did enjoy a 1989 St Emilion Grand Cru. The bottle alone merits a blip but is relegated to the extra today!(and for some reason I can't seem to correct appears on its side!)
