Grow Your Own

There was good news today as the router was delivered. The bad news is that, as predicted yesterday, I was out walking the dog. The even better news was that Parcel Force Man decided to recheck the house on his way home, and lo and behold, I was in! So we have router, we have Internet, everything in the garden is rosy :-)

This brings me neatly onto today's photo which shows not just any yellow flowers; but our courgette plant's yellow flowers. The late arrival of summer seems to have spurred the plant on and we are gathering the harvest. We have already had one courgette off the plant, see insert picture, which I duly chopped up and used in tonight's tea, tofu and vegetable stir fry on noodles, and there are another six in the offing. I hadn't believed this thing about home grown veg tasting better than supermarket veg, but this courgette tasted absolutely delicious.

We also planted some tomato seedlings at the same time, but besides for one or two half-hearted flowers, they have not borne fruit.

Olympic News: the first event of the 2012 London Olympic Games kicked off at 4pm with the Women's Football at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Apologies to any New Zealand supporters, but Team GB won 1-0.
