I had a stroll along the River today - lots of youngsters around, but as this Kingfisher was showing well (calling and flying up- and downstream), it was as always irresistible. I noticed that he's using a fishing line when I looked more closely at the shot.
Most of the anglers who use the river are a good source of intelligence about wildlife, but because it is wooded along this stretch, inevitably their lines get caught in the trees. Not sure how much harm they do, but an entanglement with them is not a pleasant thing for the birds.
