Power Struggle
It's a wonder that I managed to get anything at all done today, given the frequent controversies that broke out at our two suet and seed feeders between rival fledglings of several undefined species, as well as incursions by adult Downy Woodpeckers, Red-Shafted Northern Flickers, Steller's Jays, Chickadees, Song Sparrows, and the elephantine Crows.
This was taken at 6:15 a.m.; I converted it to mono because the shot was brightly backlit, which distracted from the very expressive postures of the birds. I suspect these growing fledglings wake up ravenously hungry, given the numbers that showed up in the early part of the morning.
I'll try to find a less contentious subject on Tuesday!
(You can see one of the fledglings -- perhaps one of these! -- on Phil's blip.)
