It's Arles happening!
Another day of ancient history,
flora and butterflies,
English-style drizzle
under south French skies.
Arles Museum of Antiquities was open today and included some amazing scale models showing how the remains and relics of Arles would have looked two millennia ago. This informed our views of the remains of the huge amphitheatre, theatre, public baths and cryptoportiques that we visited afterwards.
What to blip?! I've chosen a view from the top of one of the amphitheatre towers. I like looking over all those red roofs to the river Rhone and the distant hills beyond the ancient walls. My Extra is looking down from the same tower to within the walls, where, if you look closely, you might spot Flossie waving.
I did point my camera at a pair of pigeons that were billing and cooing and ended up with inadvertent avian pornography, so I'll leave that image to your imagination. But the pigeons clearly loved each other very much, so that was OK.
